CALDWELL COUNTY, KY - Betty Pruett Catlett, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.
Born October 29, 1927 in Caldwell County to Percy Lee and Katie Mae Spickard Pruett, she and her husband the late Reginald O. Catlett were co-publishers of The Sebree Banner and The Sturgis News for over 40 years. She was a charter member and past president of the Sebree Chamber of Commerce and for many years was the voice of Aunt Betty who read letters to Santa and conversed with Sparky and Sparkarella on radio station WHRZ in Providence and WKOA in Hopkinsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Scott Orr Catlett and a sister Annie Mitchell.
Survivors include a daughter Regina A. Catlett of Sebree, two sons Anthony L. (Kim) Catlett of Sebree and Steven P. (Theresa) Catlett of Madisonville; six grandchildren: Jason (Paula) Catlett of Akron, OH, Abby (Todd) Cary of Central City, Jennifer (Matthew) Frankic of Evanville, IN, Eleanor Catlett of Louisville, Katherine Harris of McKenzie, TN and Claire Ann Catlett of Princeton; one sister, Julia Nell Hughes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; nine great grandchildren: Gabe Catlett, Jace Catlett, Caleb Cary, Maddie Cary, Tora Frankic, Canaan Frankic, Cadence Harris, Courtland Harris and KateLynn Harris ; three step-grandsons; Hunter WAyne Carter, Brad Blair and Chris Blair; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday December 17, 2011 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Bro. Bill Crabtree and Dr. Bob Hardison will officiate.
Visitation will be Friday 4-8 PM and Saturday 8 AM until service time.
Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Shelton, Collin Shelton, Cameron Shelton, Jason Catlett, Keith Tapp and Deron Berthold. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Sheridan, Todd Jones, Sen. Dorsey Ridley and Mike Herron.
Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Terrace Nursing Home Activity Fund.
