George (Bob) Johnson, 75, Sturgis

 

obit8STURGIS, KY - George (Bob) Johnson, 75, Sturgis, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at his home.

He was retired from Peabody Coal Co. Camp No. 1 Mine. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis and the UMWA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Johnson and Flora Watson.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Johnson; one daughter, Penny Farrell of Providence; one son, Larry Johnson of Barlow, Ky.; three sisters, Karen Zimmerman of Fairfield, Ill., Susan Morriss of Evansville and Connie Johnson of Griffin, Ind.; and two brothers, Roy Fulps of Elkton, Ky., and Mike Dill of Paducah.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Don Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Frazier Cemetery in Clay.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.
