obit6SLAUGHTERS, KY - Agnes Newton Whitsell, 86, Slaughters, passed away at 12:44 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

She was retired from Slaughters Elementary School's lunch room. She was a member of Slaughters United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Whitsell; her parents, Samuel and Effie Brown Newton; one son, Kenneth Whitsell; and an infant daughter, Janet Whitsell.

Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Ashby of Sebree; one son, Jerry Whitsell of Madisonville; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel. Pastor Ronnie Young will officiate. Burial will be in Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Slaughters United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Chris Whitsell, Todd Whitsell, Scott Ashby, Jordan Ashby, Jon Ashby and Joe Ashby.
