HENDERSON, KY - Clyde Ross (Rabbit) Johnson, 81, Henderson, passed away at 1:58 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital-Evansville in Evansville.
He was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Powderly, Ky., to Raymond and Ellen Ione Powell Johnson. Clyde was a Korean War and Vietnam War U.S. Navy veteran having served 20 years. He retired from Alcan Aluminum after 21 years. He enjoyed woodworking and car racing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Inez Conn Johnson, who passed away May 27, 2000; three sisters, Dorothy Fredmeyer, Sue Ellen Hockensmith and Jonell Johnson; and two brothers, Vernon Bruce Johnson and Raymond Lee Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, David Ross Johnson and Paul Shane Johnson, both of Henderson; three sisters, Betty Head of Providence, Catherine Ann Manuel of Swansea, S.C., and Laura Nell Gingrich of Boonville, Mo.; one brother, Gerald Johnson of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.
