Dorris Ray Melton, 88

 

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Dorris Ray Melton, 88, Vandetta, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.

He was a retired farmer and farm equipment salesman. He was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorris and Ruby Bridwell Melton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Tapp Melton; two daughters, Kay Mallicoat of Hanson and Pam Roberts of Madisonville; one son, Joe Melton of Slaughters; two sisters, Martha Lang of Atlanta and Barbara Parish of Madisonville; two brothers, Jerry Melton of Tilden and Larry Melton of Poole; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.

There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service Sunday. Brother Gary Taylor will officiate.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
