William Leslie (Bill) Eans, Jr., 80, of Owensboro

 

OWENSBORO, KY - William Leslie (Bill) Eans, Jr., 80, of Owensboro, passed away on January 28, 2012 at Owensboro Place. He was born in Daviess County to the late William Leslie Eans, Sr. and Delia P. (James) Eans.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. As a young man Bill owned and operated a barber shop in the Owensboro Motor Inn. After 20 years as a barber he took interest in the railroad and eventually sold the shop. He then worked as a railroad conductor for many years until his retirement.

Bill was a longtime member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and a jack of all trades. Bill coached numerous youth teams through the years, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Divers and Explorers Club. His pride and joy was the cabin he and his son built at Rough River.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Leslie Bennett.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Pearl (McLevaine) Eans; a daughter, Bridget Eans of Owensboro; two sons, Steve Eans of Auburn, KY and Shane Eans (Hope) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Leslie L. Eans (Clay Leveronne) of Auburn, KY, Stevi J. Eans (Dustin Baxter) of Bowling Green, KY, William Logan, Keely Mae and Phillip Morgan Eans of Owensboro; sister, Ida Crafton (Bill) of Owensboro; numerous nieces and nephews and several beloved pets.

The funeral service will be at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Reverends Jeff Hendricks and Eugene Howard will officiate. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
