Robert Cleo Layne

OWENSBORO, KY- Robert Cleo Layne, after a long and good life of 87 years, passed away on February 3, 2012.

Born in 1924 in Arkansas, Mr. Layne left Barron Kidd in 1966 and became an independent oil producer in Whitesville, KY. Marcella I. Laxton and Bob Layne were married on September 27, 1943 in Oklahoma. Bob and Marcella were married 55 years. Marcella preceded Bob in death on January 5, 1999. Bob was of the Baptist faith and a Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, FOE Yellowbanks #4168 and the Masonic Lodge #130 for over 60 years. He enjoyed fishing.

Bob and Marcella had five children, Bobby Layne, who passed on November 8, 2006, Randy Layne and his wife, Donna of Whitesville, KY, Dianne Howard and her husband, Bruce, of Allen, TX, Danny Layne of Owensboro and Sandra Stevens and her husband, Dennis of Owensboro. Mr. and Mrs. Layne also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by a brother, Jack Layne and wife, Edith of Owensboro and a sister, Betty Walker of Fort Worth, TX.

Masonic and Funeral Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, where a FOE remembrance service will be held at 6:00 p.m and then visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
