Eva Neff Curry, 96, of Habit

OWENSBORO, KY - Eva Neff Curry, 96, of Habit went to be with her Lord Saturday, February 4, 2012.

Born in Hancock County on October 6, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Fannie Shahan Neff; was a homemaker; and was the second oldest member of Bethabara Baptist Church. She survived the 1937 flood and very much enjoyed telling stories about it. When she met her husband, Gilbert Curry, her only request was that they move to the highest point in the county to avoid another flood. They together moved to Habit in 1945 and lived there for nearly 70 years. She was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class and loved her church family; had served as the secretary of the Habit Homemakers; was an avid mall walker; and loved talking to people and eating at her favorite restaurants. She also enjoyed watching golf and the St Louis Cardinal baseball, and enjoyed gardening and animals. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert “Gip” Curry in 1989 and her son, Wayne Curry in 2008.

Surviving are grandchildren, Rick (Ginny) Curry and Debbie Dukes of Owensboro, and Brent (Donna) Curry of Habit; her daughter-in-law, Mary Maude Curry Atkinson of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Jill Curry, Matt (Kristen) Curry, Chris Dukes, Jessica Dukes, Lacey Curry and Lynsey Young; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are 12 noon Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Bethabara Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Peeples officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Bethabara Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Kelley Cemetery Fund.
