PADUCAH, KY - Charles A. Pope, 79 of Lone Oak passed away Saturday at 2:15 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital.
He was a native of Livingston County, graduate of Golconda High School in 1950, graduate of Washbourne Trade School; a 42 year member of Lone Oak United Methodist Church and also a charter/founding member of Woodridge united Methodist Church, Woodridge, IL.. Charles was a veteran of U.S. Army having served during the Korean conflict and was retired from General Electric in Madisonville, Ky after 20 years of service and Union Carbide in Paducah. Many of his years of employment was as a machinist and tool die maker, and he held membership in the International Association of Machinist Aerospace workers.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years Jacquie Miles Pope, two sons: David Pope (Candace) and Dan Pope (Rebecca) both of Lone Oak, KY, three grandchildren: Cullen Miles Pope, Anderson Reid Pope, Addilynn Grayson Pope, two step grandchildren: Samantha Hlad and Jessica Doss, several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were parents: Lawrence Cleveland Pope & Emma Jess Ramage Pope, one sister, Jessie Taylor and one brother L.C. Pope Jr.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak United Methodist Church, with Dr. Ben Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Brooks Memorial Park. Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the church until service time of 2:00 p.m.
