PADUCAH, KY (2/7/12) - Paducah Tilghman senior Mason Malone signed a football scholarship with Kentucky Christian University at PTHS on February 6.
Malone, a center, was a four year letterman and three year co-captain for the Blue Tornado. He was a member of the 2009 state championship team.
“Mason is aggressive, he’s a team leader, and he understands blocking techniques and schemes,” said offensive line coach Jonathan Smith. “The center is the computer of the offensive line. Mason understands his role and has performed well.”
“Mason has a tremendous work ethic,” said head coach Randy Wyatt. “Sometimes that’s the difference between those who succeed and those who don’t at the college level. If he will stay focused on the big picture, not get distracted, and remember that he’s there to get an education, he’ll do fine.”
Kentucky Christian University, located in Grayson, Kentucky, is a member of the NAIA. Malone says that the coaching staff intends to look at using him as a blocking fullback.
Malone said he’s looking forward to the switch and the chance to play at the next level. “I have always liked football, and have a passion for it,” Malone said. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
