PTHS Speech Finishes as Regional Runner-Up

SPEACH WINNERS

PADUCAH, KY (2/17/12) – Paducah Tilghman finished as runner-up at the Kentucky High School Speech League Regional competition in Murray on February 12 and had three regional champions and three regional runners-up.
 
Junior Victoria Potter was regional champion in Impromptu Speaking and Original Oratory and senior Madison Whelan and junior Savanna Whelan were regional champions in Improvisational Duo. Juniors Katie Paxton and Savanna Whelan were regional runners-up in Duo Interpretation, Sophomore Will Hancock was regional runner-up in Impromptu Speaking, and freshman Erin Burba was regional runner-up in Storytelling.
 
Calloway County High School placed first in the region, and Marshall County High School placed third.
 
Tilghman had 34 entries competing Saturday, and 31 students are qualified for the state tournament in March. The team is coached by Martha Emmons and Todd Ross.
