WESTERN KY (1/10/12)— The Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigate criminal activity across the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky, and, in many instances, the information provided by individual citizens allows law enforcement officials to make important breakthroughs in difficult cases.
With this in mind, members of the KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green, KY are asking the public to help in finding those responsible for a fatal hit and run.
The incident, which resulted in the death of one Angel Fernandez, took place on US 31-W (south of Franklin) in Bowling Green just after midnight on Sunday, September 25th, 2005.
As investigators explain, Fernandez and another local Hispanic resident, Luis Rodriguez, were riding their bicycles home after leaving their place of employment (an area Cracker Barrel restaurant) when an unknown driver ran off the right side of the roadway and struck both men from behind.
Whereas Rodriguez was successfully treated for several serious injuries following a life-flight to Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville, TN, Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evidence gathered in the investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the hit and run was most likely a 1982 or 1983 Honda Accord.
At this time, detectives with the KSP are requesting help from the community or anyone who might have information regarding this unfortunate incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Trooper Erik Salman, at (270) 782-2010 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
