John Thomas Davis, 87

 

PADUCAH, KY - John Thomas Davis, 87 was called home by our Lord on January 31,2012.

He was born on January 16, 1925. He was 87 years old. He was a member of The Milburn Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Zedeana Davis and Bro. Swept Davis of Milburn, KY.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Davis of Paducah, and a sister Margaret O’Bee Davis of Paducah. He married on July 15, 1950 to the love of his life, Dorthea Eleen Dodson. She preceded him in death. He had three daughters and one son; Sharon Ann Reagon of Chicago, IL, Delores Dean Dunn, who preceded him in death, Barbara Davis of Milburn, KY, and Johnny Davis of Lick Creek, IL. He had two granddaughters and one grandson; Tracey Davis of Bardwell, KY, Victoria Dunn Kennedy of Columbus, IN, and Shannon Dunn of Hazel, KY. He also had three great grandsons and one great granddaughter; Chance Dunn, Truman Davis, Syler Kennedy, and Ansley Kennedy.

He was a carpenter and built many homes in the area. He enjoyed that work and called himself a carpenter. He was also a successful business man and had in the past owned and operated two resturants, a grocery store, a laundry matt, a recreation center, and rental property. We was well known and respected in the community and loved as a husband, father, and grandfather. We was a veteran of World War II and served his country in the United States Army”B” Company and also 480th Ambulance Company. His tour in service lasted for more than 2 years starting on May 20, 1943 to August 2, 1945. During this time he traveled through Germany, England, and France. He attended and also assisted with the 480th Ambulance reunions held in Paducah for over 40 years.

Services for Mr. Davis will be held at the Milburn Baptist Church Thursday, February 2 at 2:00pm with burial following at Milburn Cemetery. Rev. Glen Stewart will officiate. Friends may call at the CHURCH after 9:00 am till service time Thursday, February 2. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
