PADUCAH, KY - Freddy J. Mills, 79, of Paducah passed away Sunday, February, 5, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Mills was of the Baptist Faith and he attended Broadway Baptist Church. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he was a Kentucky Colonel, he was a volunteer coach with the Khoury League of Paducah, and he coached little league football. He was a sales manager with Kentucky Central Insurance. In 1949 he was on the first football team to ever play at The Memorial Stadium in Mayfield. (Mayfield VS Madisonville)
He is survived by his wife Sue Hall Mills, his sons Freddy J. “Chip” Mills II and wife Tania of Hallandale Beach Fl, Michael S. Sowash and wife Janet of Paducah, Robbie S. Sowash and wife Anita of Atlanta GA, Christopher S Cartwright and wife Mindy of Paducah; daughter Sheryl Balisteri and Husband Chris of Buffalo NY; one Sister Karen Coleman of Paducah; one brother W.J. Mills of Paducah; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister Joyce Lewis, and one brother Ernest J. Mills. His parents were Curtis and Hilda M. Woodson Mills.
A memorial service is scheduled for 7:00 PM Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Paul Hatcher and Rev. Steve Gorham officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until service time of 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
