OWENSBORO, KY - Andrew Lee (Howard) Sims, 26, of San Diego, California passed on Monday, February 13, 2012, in California. He was born in Daviess County on July 27, 1985. He had served in the US Navy from 2003-2011. He was a graduate of Owensboro High School in 2003. He enjoyed sailing, hiking, scuba diving and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Lee Stengell.

Surviving are his parents, Sharon and Kerry Sims of Paducah, Ky.; his grandparents, Melissa Stengell of Owensboro, Jim Howard of Whitesville, Judy Osborne of Owensboro and Larry and Bonnie Sims of Paducah, KY.

Also surviving are his siblings, Logen Thompson of Louisville, Baylle Thompson of Paducah, Jacob Sims of Louisville, Erin Howard Woolen and Byron Howard both of Owensboro, KY. Other surviving family members include, Keith Howard of Owensboro, Karen Skinner of Evansville, Rebecca Miller of Rockport, Vickie Sims and Adam Sims of Paducah.

There will be a sharing of memories memorial service at 3 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012, at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.

Visitation at will be held Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
