Pedley’s Predictions Week 11

basic football1 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (11/1/13) – Last week Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, and Daviess County had solid victories. Daviess County had the game of the week surviving a second half surge from Marshall County before winning 51 – 44. Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic had huge victories, winning by the combined score of 92 – 26.

With those victories, my record also gained some momentum rising to 14 – 5 on the year. This week all three teams have much tougher challengers.

Henderson County Colonels 7 – 2 @ Owensboro Red Devils 7 – 2

This will be the game of the week. Both teams are ready for a post season push; the coaches should be excited about a test like this before the play offs. Owensboro won convincingly, 43 – 8, over a bad Hopkins County Central team last week. Also, last week, Henderson struggled to keep up with McCracken County and lost 42 – 28.

Head Coach Joe Prince for Owensboro pushed his team to be the most physical team all year. Prince watch as his team controlled all three facets of the game: offense, defense, and special teams. Henderson runs the spread offense similar to Owensboro Catholic’s. So, Owensboro will have to use their speed advantage to stop Henderson from spreading the ball around.

This game will have a lot of hard hits and probably some big plays on both sides of the ball. Figure on a close game and a low score.

Prediction: Owensboro will stand strong on defense and win 20 – 13.

Ohio County Eagles 2 -7 @ Daviess County Panthers 5 – 4

Daviess County will face an Ohio County team that has lost their last seven games. While the Panthers should have won quite easily last week against Marshall, but thanks to the Marshals backup quarterback, the game was close late. Last week, Ohio County lost due to a late touchdown from Apollo.

The Panthers will have to play much better defense if they are going have any chance in the playoffs. The game this week against Ohio County will test Daviess County’s responsibilities on defense. DC will have to account from the Eagles run option offense which is always a tough task.

This game could be over at half time, but if Daviess County lets the Eagles hang around, it will be close late. Figure on high emotions this game. It’s Senior Night for the Panthers and Ohio County did not make the playoffs, so the Eagles might be out for blood.

Prediction: Daviess County will play a full game and dominate Ohio County winning 41 – 13.

Owensboro Catholic Aces 7 – 2 @ Barren County Trojans 4 - 5

The Aces are on a five game winning streak and are really starting to peak at the right time. Last week they controlled McLean County defeating the Cougars 49 – 18. While, last week Barren County beat Taylor County 35 – 20 and the Trojans are on a three game winning streak of their own.

Catholic’s defense will have quite the challenge stopping Barren County’s 6’2” 200 pound quarterback. The upset is a possibility for Barren County whom have the size advantage if they chose to sue it. If the Aces play disciplined on defense and stop the play action passes, Catholic will win big again. Figure on a tired defense for the Aces.

Prediction: Owensboro Catholic will pull away late in this game and win 35 – 20.
