HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (11/20/13) - The Book It! 5K and Fun Walk was held Saturday, Nov. 16, to raise awareness of the importance of literacy and raise funds for the upcoming Hopkins County Literacy Celebration. The event is sponsored by Celebrate Literacy Hopkins County, which includes Hopkins County Schools and Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce as lead partners.

Grapevine Elementary School won the trophy for school with the most participants.

Following are the 5K results:

Overall Winners: Mens, 1st, Austin Childress (17:05); 2nd Robert Daugherty (18:01). Womens, 1st Riley Laffoon (23:55); 2nd Kristin Skaggs (24:11).
Age 16 & younger: Male, 1st Jeff McKnight (22:50); 2nd Konner Harrison (24:45); Female, 1st Carly Pollard (33:31); 2nd Abbie Weaver (41:40).
Age 17-24: Male, 1st Jordan Bean (29:17); Female, 1st Chelsea Ashby (27:33); 2nd Mary-Margaret Gamblin (33:13)
Age 25-34: Male, 1st Josh Morgan (26:48); 2nd Josh Lee (27:11); Female, 1st Julia Lee (27:11); 2ND Ashley McKnight (30:32)
Age 35-44: Male, 1st Brian Workman (27:23); 2nd Patrick Scott (29:57); Female, 1st Amy Laffoon (24:11); Keri Garrett (25:37)
Age 45-54: Male, 1st Bobby Brown (24:05); 2nd David Lutz (29:29); Female, 1st Cheryl Stockman (28:38); 2nd Teresa Brown (35:35)
