LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/8/13) - Owning 10 goals over the last three games, the Kentucky men’s soccer team will conclude its regular season by traveling to No. 20 New Mexico, with kickoff on Saturday slated for 7 p.m. ET.
Kentucky (6-8-3, 3-3-2 Conference USA) is unbeaten in its last three games, posting a pair of league wins over Marshall and Florida Atlantic, before a non-conference 2-2 tie with Wright State to conclude the 2013 home schedule.
The Wildcats have netted 24 goals in their 17 games, allowing 22 goals and a 1.24 goals-against average, with advantages in shots (280-167) and corners (108-78).
UK has been led in scoring by senior forward Tyler Riggs, the reigning national and C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, who has six goals on the year and 29 in his career. Senior Brad Doliner has five goals and one assist, with sophomore Isak Krogstad sporting four goals and three assists. Freshmen Sam Miller and Napo Matsoso each have a goal and four assists, with junior Justin Laird leading the team with six assists. Freshmen Kaelon Fox and Charlie Reymann each have two goals and one assist, with Jacob Scearce adding a goal and two assists. Freshman Ryan Creel has a goal and an assist, with sophomore Bryan Celis notching three assists. Senior Steven Perinovic has a goal, with Kristoffer Tollefsen and Matt Quick owning assists.
In goal, sophomore Callum Irving has a 1.11 goals-against average in 13 games, saving 36 shots and owning five clean sheets. Senior Jack Van Arsdale has a 1.63 goals-against average in five games, saving seven shots.
New Mexico (10-4-2, 6-1-1 C-USA) has 29 goals in 16 games, including seven goals over the last two matches. The Lobos have allowed 15 goals and own a 0.90 goals-against average, with advantages in shots (236-117) and corners (106-49). UNM will be playing for the regular-season C-USA Championship on Saturday, owning a one-point advantage over Old Dominion with one game remaining.
The Lobos have been led individually by Niko Hansen, who has seven goals and four assists. James Rogers has six goals and four assists, with Michael Calderon owning six goals and two assists. Riley McGovern has three goals and three assists, with Ben McKendry and Chris Weham sporting three goals and one assist. In goal, Michael Lisch has a 0.85 goals-against average in 16 games, with 31 saves and six shutouts.
Kentucky will be facing New Mexico for the first time in program history on Saturday, as the Lobos are in their first season in C-USA.
