uk logo3 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/12/13) - A two-time Academic All-America honoree and a three-time All-Conference USA selection, Kentucky senior forward Tyler Riggs has been named first-team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors Association, it was announced.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Riggs was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for the third consecutive season. The product of St. Xavier High School owns a 3.93 cumulative grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. He has been on the UK Dean’s List in every semester of his collegiate career, receiving only one “B” in his career. He plans to complete the BS/MBA Dual Program at UK after graduation.

A member of the Senior CLASS Award preseason watch list, Riggs is one of the most decorated goal scorers in program history, owning 29 goals, nine assists and 67 points in his career. Riggs ranks among the program record holders in goals (second) and points (sixth). He is on pace to become the first player in the history of the program to lead the team in scoring and goals for four consecutive years.

As a freshman, Riggs earned third-team All-Conference USA honors, totaling five goals in 19 games. During his 2011 season, Riggs notched 11 goals and five assists, ranking among the tops in UK single-season history. After earning third-team All-Conference USA accolades in 2012, he once again was honored in 2012 by the league office, after netting seven goals and dishing out four assists in leading UK back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003.

During his senior season, Riggs leads the Wildcats in scoring, with six goals in 17 games, firing 37 shots. He completed the ninth hat trick in school history in a 6-1 smashing of Florida Atlantic, getting all of his tallies in a 24 minute span in the second half. He earned College Soccer News National Player of the Week and C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors, his 10th career weekly honor.

Kentucky returns to action against Old Dominion on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. ET in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament, hosted by Charlotte at Transamerica Field.
