HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (2/22/12) – The Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce has just issued an advertising scam alert that is currently going on in the Hopkins County area.
According to the Chamber officials, they were notified by one of the members claiming to be “IMG” is contacting local businesses in an attempt to sell ad space on “emergency contact magnets.”
In the alert, the Chamber stated that, “During the call the IMG representative inferred that this promotion is associated with the Chamber, claiming we are the "contact agent" for magnet delivery and that we recommended businesses to be "elite advertisers." The chamber wishes to warn local businesses that this is in no way the truth.
Chamber officials wish for local businesses to know that if they ever receive a solicitation call from an unfamiliar company that attempts to associate itself with the chamber, they should verify the information before going any further.
