Jordan Glover returns from Afghanistan, Continues Career in Ft. Campbell

glover 300WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (2/15/12) – After 12 months spent mostly flying helicopter missions to support forces on the ground in Afghanistan, Webster County native Jordan Glover has ended his tour of duty in Iraq and is now continuing his career with “Task Force Wings” in the 159 Combat Aviation Brigade at Ft. Campbell.

“I expect to be there through 2012,” Glover told The J-E in a recent telephone interview shortly after his return.

Following his term of service at the base in Ft. Campbell, Glover said he is anticipating enrollment in a captain’s career course, a six-month program that all servicemen in the Army are required to go through before giving a command post.

During his time in Afghanistan, Glover also worked with others serving in Task Force Wings to collect and distribute supplies for children living there. Items collected included pens and pencils, games, toys, coats, blankets, and other items the soldiers could give to the children. An exact tally of the items collected wasn’t known, but Glover said he received about 100 boxes from local donors. He said he was proud of the large number of items collected by all involved, and offered congratulations to those in the task force for their success.afgan 300
Glover is the son of Tom Glover and Elizabeth Holloman of Providence.

Holloman said more than $3,000 worth of merchandise was sent overseas in two separate shipments. Items collected included more than 125 baseballs, approximately 70 coloring books, eight kickballs, six footballs, and various school supplies, such as pens, pencils, erasers, construction paper, and glue. About 300 pencils were sent in 15 boxes of 20 each, she said.
