Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following accidents:

Sat., Feb. 11, 10:35 a.m.
An accident occurred on Ky. Hwy. 109 in Wheatcroft. According to Webster County Deputy Scott Starkey, Randy Travis, 43, Providence, was driving north on Ky. 109 when an oncoming vehicle apparently swerved into his lane to avoid hitting a dog that had entered the highway. Authorities said Travis also swerved to avoid the other vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane, and ran into the ditch. He then continued over the crossroad at the intersection, spun sideways, and struck a utility pole. Webster County EMS responded to the scene but Travis refused transport. No other injuries were reported. Travis’ 1991 Isuzu Trooper sustained moderate to severe damage.

Wed., Feb. 15, 10:21 a.m.
An accident occurred on U.S. Hwy. 41-A in Providence. According to Webster County Deputy Cory Patmore, Richard Malone, 68, Dawson Springs, was driving a rental vehicle north on U.S. 41-A when an unidentified vehicle apparently “ran him off the road.” Authorities said the 2012 Ford Focus apparently became airborne, continued off the roadway along the south bound side, and struck an earth embankment. The car then flipped and struck a telephone pole before coming to final rest on the driver’s side. Webster County EMS responded to the scene and extricated Malone from the car. He was taken by ambulance to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville for treatment of injuries. The car sustained very severe damage.

An accident occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway, eight miles south of Sebree. According to Kentucky State Police, Solomon Eunice, 41, Corydon, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger north on the parkway when he apparently “began to experience tire problems.” A front tire sustained a blow-out, causing Eunice to lose control of the truck. He ran off the road and struck a guardrail, which then caused the truck to overturn. Authorities said the truck came to final rest off the highway. Eunice was taken by ambulance to Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. A passenger in his truck, Vicky Parker, 57, Metter, GA, was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, IN, for treatment.
