police beat bluel 300WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (1/18/12) – The following is your weekly update of law-enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.
 
Providence Police
Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell reported the following arrests:
 
Mon., Jan. 16, 9:00 a.m.
•Melissa Teague, 28, Providence, was arrested on Jan. 13 on a Webster County bench warrant.
•Shadonna Gibson, 26, Sebree, was cited to court on Jan. 14 on charges of speeding.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
 
Sheriff’s Report
Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following accidents:
 
Fri., Jan. 6, 10:39 p.m.
An accident occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway, two miles south of Sebree. According to Webster County Deputy Mike Wells, Jennifer Johnson, 31, Graham, was driving south on the parkway when she apparently hit a deer as it entered the road ahead of her. No injuries were reported. Johnson’s 2010 Dodge Charger sustained moderate damage.
 
Sun., Jan. 1, 5:39 a.m.
An accident occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway, 3.5 miles south of Sebree. According to Webster County Deputy Mike Wells, Timothy Parker, 53, Hendersonville, TN, was driving south on the parkway when for an unknown reason Johnson ran off the road into the median, where his 2012 Honda Civic rolled over several times before coming to final rest on its top. Authorities said Parker told them he couldn’t remember details of the accident. Parker was flown by St. Mary’s Life Flight to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, IN, for treatment. His car sustained very severe damage.
 
Fri., Jan. 6, 7:40 a.m.
An accident occurred on Ky. Hwy. 109 in Clay. According to Webster County Deputy Scott Starkey, Harry Harris, 80, Clay, was apparently turning left onto a private drive as Timothy Shelton, 21, Clay, approached from the opposite direction. The two collided on the highway. Authorities said Harris told them he couldn’t see Shelton’s vehicle because of the sun. Shelton was taken by Providence EMS to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. Harris wasn’t hurt. Shelton’s 1996 Toyota Corolla sustained moderate to severe damage. Harris’ 1994 Chevrolet pick-up sustained minor to moderate damage.
 
Wed., Jan. 11, 2:10 a.m.
An accident occurred on Ky. Hwy. 630, four miles east of Dixon. According to Webster County Deputy Jay Workins, Jeffrey Brown, 40, Hanson, was driving east on Ky. 630 when an unknown vehicle apparently sideswiped him, causing minor damage to the driver’s side window and mirror. Authorities said Brown told them he pulled over but that the other vehicle, identified only as a pick-up truck, didn’t stop. No injuries were reported. Brown’s car, a 2011 Dodge Ram, sustained minor damage.
 
Mon., Jan. 9, 4:56 p.m.
An accident occurred on U.S. Hwy. 41-A, three miles north of Dixon. According to Webster County Deputy Cory Patmore, Samantha Dacy, 23, Dixon, was driving her 2004 Chevrolet Impala north on U.S. 41-A when she apparently lost control of the car and ran off the road. The car struck an earth embankment before running through a private fence. The car came to final rest in a nearby field. No injuries were reported. Dacy’s car sustained minor to moderate damage.
 
Mon., Jan. 9, 8:28 a.m.
An accident occurred on Ky. Hwy. 56, three miles east of Poole. According to Webster County Deputy Donald Jones, Charles Wall, 51, Livermore, was driving west on Ky. 56 while Chris Meredith, 37, Sebree, was stopped on the road assisting a third motorist who had apparently run off the road into a nearby ditch. Authorities said Wall started around Meredith’s vehicle but collided with an oncoming automobile driven by Dannie Luckett, 59, Dunmor. A passenger in Luckett’s car, Russell Oates, 61, Madisonville, was taken by Webster County EMS to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville for treatment. No other injuries were reported. Wall’s 2003 Ford F250 sustained moderate damage. Luckett’s 2004 Toyota Camry sustained severe damage. Poole Fire and Rescue, Sebree Fire and Rescue, and Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield assisted at the scene.
 
Webster County
Grand Jury
 
The Webster County Grand Jury convened on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Webster County Courthouse in Dixon. During the session, the grand jury indicted:
•Alissia Hogan, 33, Providence, on charges of forgery of a prescription for a legend drug, a class D felony; and
•Robert Knight, 28, Clay, on charges of second degree assault, a class C felony; and second degree persistent felony offender.
The grand jury also continued cases against Michael Musarra and Brandon Piper, and issued a “no true bill” verdict in a case against Tracey Major.
 
Webster County
Circuit Court
 
The following court cases were resolved recently in Webster County Circuit Court:
•Andrew Forrest Mitchell, 34, pleaded guilty on Aug. 3, 2011 to charges of third degree burglary by complicity, a class D felony; and theft by unlawful taking (more than $500) by complicity, a class D felony. On Jan. 10, Webster County Circuit Court Judge Williams sentenced Mitchell to a total of one year in prison and ordered him to pay court costs;
•Webster County Circuit Court Judge Rene´ Williams revoked probation for Corey Stone after it was determined Stone violated the terms of probation by failing to complete substance abuse treatment. Stone was resentenced to a 10-year prison sentence on a previous conviction for criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, a class C felony;
•David Sharp, 44, pleaded guilty on Oct. 8, 2011, to charges of second degree escape, a class D felony. On Jan. 5, Webster County Circuit Court Judge Rene´ Williams sentenced Sharp to one year in prison;
•Uriah Kelley, 30, pleaded guilty on Nov. 17, 2011, to charges of first degree promoting contraband, a class D felony. On Jan. 5, Webster County Circuit Court Judge Rene´ Williams sentenced Kelley to one year in prison;
•Charges against Jennifer Jackson were dismissed on Jan. 5; and
•Tevin Woodruff, age unknown, pleaded guilty on Jan. 5 to charges of first degree criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor. On Jan. 5, Woodruff was placed on two years’ probation and ordered to pay court costs.
