Clay Council Holds Short Meet

claycitycouncil burgandyWEBSTER COUNTY, KY (1/18/12) – In a quick meeting of the Clay City Council last Tuesday night, Jan. 10, members learned a new meter has been installed in the gas station facility the city shares with Wheatcroft, and that it has been placed above the “2011 flood line.”

The previous meter, which city officials said was antiquated and obsolete, was destroyed in a flood that swept through much of Webster County and the surrounding region.

In other business, the council discussed a concern regarding a house on Taylor Street before turning the issue over to Clay City Attorney Ben Leonard. They then talked about the possibility of tearing an old water tank down but didn’t take action on the discussion.

Clay Mayor Rick Householder told the council he was planning to meet with Clay Fire Chief Jeremy Moore and other city officials to work out plans on development of a new fire department complex. The city already purchased the property where the new building will be constructed, on the grounds of the former Townsend Food Center in Clay, and secured a grant to help pay for the project.

Clay Police Chief Chris Evitts said a new squad car the council agreed to purchase would be in the city within a month, following equipment installation work taking place in Owensboro over a few days.
