fatal collision 2 300UPDATE: WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky (10/13/17) — It was tough day for authorities in Webster County.

An early morning head-on collision along Kentucky 109 near Clay resulted in the deaths of two Wheatcroft residents.

Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported Robin R. Day, 54, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe headed north at about 7:27 a.m.

Her vehicle crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and entered the southbound lane into the path of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by Brian C. Jones, 29, the sheriff reported.

Day was pronounced dead at the scene by Webster County Coroner Tom Vanover. Springfield said Jones was taken by ambulance to Clay to meet an Air Evac medical helicopter. The request for air ambulance was canceled, and Jones was also pronounced deceased.

There were no reported passengers traveling with the drivers. Both were wearing seat belts.

Day was a couple miles from her home, the sheriff said, recalling he had gone to high school with her, and Jones had lived about a mile from where the accident occurred.

Kentucky State Police, Webster County EMS, Clay Fire Department and Rescue and Wheatcroft Fire Department assisted.
