lane restriction 300SEBREE, Ky. (10/17/17) — Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced a contractor plans a traffic shift along the U.S. 41 work zone in Sebree today.

Travel lanes along a section of U.S. 41/College Street have been under reconstruction for pavement, curb and gutter improvements between the Kentucky 56/Main Street intersection at milepoint 9.461 extending northward to near East Madison Street at milepoint 9.745 in Sebree.

Work along this section of U.S. 41 is nearing completion and it is expected to reopen to normal traffic flow this week. However, some additional curb and gutter work to improve drainage has been added to the north of the existing work zone.

This additional work along U.S. 41 in Sebree is between Kentucky 56/Jefferson and Madison streets along the block that includes EZ Stop Convenience Store and the Family Dollar Store. This additional curb, gutter and drainage work is expected to take two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

This work zone includes a traffic shift and 10-foot travel lanes along U.Ss 41 to facilitate the work. Motorists should be aware of this planned traffic shift and changes in traffic flow it will create at the north end of the existing work zone.

Once the additional drainage work is completed, the roadway through the work zone will be paved.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. Motorists should use extra caution as traffic control is shifted to the new configuration on Wednesday morning.

Approximately 7,700 vehicles travel this section of U.S. 41 in an average day.

Hazex Construction Company, Inc, of Henderson is the prime contractor on this $900,714 highway improvement project. Due to the added work, the target completion date has been extended to about Nov. 15 weather permitting.
