KY132FishtrapRdOrcharCrkBridgeCLOSEDWebster112017WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (11/20/17) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced plans to close a section of Kentucky 132/Fishtrap Road at the Crab Orchard Creek Branch Bridge in Webster County starting today.

Kentucky 132/Fishtrap Road will be closed at milepoint 5.112 just southwest of Clay due to structural issues with the Crab Orchard Creek Branch Bridge, KYTC Spokesman Keith Todd Reported. The bridge along Kentucky 132/Fishtrap Road between Kentucky 143 and Kentucky 109 has been restricted to a 3-ton load limit for several years.

Due to the condition of the bridge structure, the Crab Orchard Creek Branch Bridge is checked ofetn by the KYTC District 2 bridge inspection staff, Todd said. During a check on the structure last week, inspectors found additional deterioration of the bridge substructure. After a review, inspectors determined that it should be closed to traffic. The bridge is expected to be barricated and blocked off to traffic sometime this morning.

Kentucky 132/Fishtrap Road is expected to remain closed at the Crab Orchard Creek Branch Bridge until further notice, while engineers seek funding to construct a replacment or until a viable repair plan can be developed.

Todd said there will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour via Kentucky 143 and 109.
