MORGANFIELD, KY - John M. Babb, 85, Morganfield, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, near Morganfield.
He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Sturgis. He was a member of the American Legion. He was retired after 30 years of service in the U.S. Army, where he was a master sergeant and served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, and one daughter, Ingrid English.
Survivors include two sisters, Jewell Powell of Cairo, Ill., and Margie Smith of Sturgis; one brother, Ewell Babb of Hawaii; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. The Rev. Don Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to American Cancer Society.
