wc baseb2 300DIXON, Ky. (4/13/19) — Webster County fell behind in the opening inning and couldn't recover from its slow start as visiting University Heights eventually prevailed 4-1 in a high school baseball game on Friday.

Familiar foes, Webster County and University Heights are 2nd Region rivals. 

With the loss, Webster County dropped to 4-11.

University Heights improved to 7-6 with the win.

Brendon Thompson pitched a complete game and earned the win on the mound for the Blazers. Thompson allowed five hits and one run while striking out seven and walking one over seven innings.

Webster County pitcher Luke May suffered the loss. May worked four innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out three.

Productive University Heights led 2-0 following its first plate appearance. 

The Trojans lost despite outhitting the Blazers 5-3. However, Webster County committed two errors.

Daniel Johnson led University Heights at the plate, connecting for two hits in three at-bats.

Helping his pitching cause, May went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Webster County in the hits column.
