HCC StormMADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/12/19) — Hopkins County Central fell behind early and was limited throughout the game as visiting Trigg County, a 2nd Region rival, pulled away to win 11-5 in a high school baseball matchup on Thursday.

With the loss, Hopkins County Central slipped to 4-10.

Trigg County improved to 7-5 with the win.

Trevor Cortner earned the win on the mound for the Wildcats. Cortner, an experienced pitcher, allowed three hits and three runs while striking out seven over five innings. Another Trigg County pitcher, Bryce Cunningham, recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

Jacob Morphew took the loss for Storm. Morphew allowed 10 hits and 10 runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Trigg County outhit Hopkins County Central 13-4 and overcame three errors to claim the win,

Arlon Butts and Andrew Syester led Trigg County at the plate, delivering three hits apiece.

Colin Garrett paced Hopkins County Central at the plate, finishing with two hits in three at-bats.
