Madisonville North Hopkins MaroonsHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (4/12/19) — Madisonville-North Hopkins was limited at the plate as host Christian County pulled away to win 7-2 in a high school softball game on Thursday.

Longtime 2nd Region softball rivals, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Christian County met for the first time in the 2019 season. 

With the loss, Madisonville-North Hopkins dropped to 6-5.

Christian County improved to 13-2 with the win.

Hannah Sumner was the winning pitcher for the Lady Colonels. Sumner surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.

Madisonville-North Hopkins pitcher Courtney Patterson took the loss. Patterson surrendered seven runs on 12 hits over six innings, striking out five and walking one.

Christian County clubbed two home runs in the victory.

Tyler Shemwell and Madison Winkler led Christian County with two hits apiece. Both Tyler Shemwell and Serinity Shemwell homered for the Lady Colonels.

Mykayla Spurlin went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Madisonville-North Hopkins in the hits column.
