apollo eagles logo 2015OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/6/18) — Apollo experienced heartbreak in Week 7 of the 2018 high school football season. Visiting Christian County scored with 1:06 remaining to defeat Apollo 18-14 in a Class 5A, District 1 football game on Friday night.

Christian County dealt Apollo its third straight loss. 

With the loss, Apollo dropped to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in Class 5A, District 1.

Christian County improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the district with the win.

Quarterback J'Lin Powell provided the heroics for Christian County, scoring on a 3-yard run with just over minute remaining in the district matchup.

The Colonels won despite being limited to 151 yards of total offense. Jadonavin McNeal led Christian County on the ground, rushing 15 times for 61 yards and one touchdown. Powell was effective through the air, completing 11 of 19 passes for 83 yards.

The Eagles rolled up 210 yards of total offense. However, Apollo was held to -14 yards rushing.

Quarterback Colby Clark paced Apollo, completing 19 of 28 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns.

On the ground for Apollo, running back Mariano McKenzie managed to rush for 63 yards via 14 carries.
