Owensboro HSOWENSBORO, Ky. (2/9/19) — Darrion Wimsatt scored a game-high 24 points to lead Owensboro past visiting Owensboro Catholic 69-61 in a 9th District boys' basketball game on Friday night.

With the win, Owensboro improved to 17-7 overall and 6-0 in the 9th District.

Owensboro Catholic dropped to 15-9 overall and 4-2 in the district with the loss.

The Red Devils led 31-25 at halftime and outscored the Aces 22-13 in the third quarter. 

Gavin Wimsatt recorded a double-double for Owensboro, scoring 17 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Also reaching double figures in scoring, Jaiden Greathouse added 10 points as Owensboro won;

Ty Vincent led Owensboro Catholic with 15 points. John Parker followed Vincent in the Owensboro Catholic scoring column and recorded a double-double, tossing in 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Accompanying Vincent and Parker in double figures for the Aces, Peyton Survant added 10 points. Narrowly missing double figures for the Aces, Brian Griffith chipped in nine points.
