Dubois County BombersMADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/8/19) — Productive Dubois County managed to defeat host Madisonville 4-1 in the opening game of an Ohio Valley League doubleheader at Elmer Kelley Stadium on Sunday.

Madisonville lost despite edging Dubois County 8-7 in the hits column.

Bennett Shoptaw pitched Dubois County to the victory. Shoptaw allowed seven hits and one run over six innings, striking out eight and walking one as he notched the pitching win. Chase Hug threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen for the Bombers. Hug recorded the last three outs to claim the save.

Trevor Smith suffered the pitching loss for the Miners. Smith allowed five hits and four runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Benji Brokemond led Dubois County at the plate, finishing 2-for-3.

Colton Olasin and Jacob Council paced Madisonville offensively, providing two hits apiece in the Miners' setback.
