Post 9 BombersNEWBURGH, Ind. (7/12/19) — Owensboro Post 9 fell short on the road as Newburgh Kapperman Post 44 prevailed 10-7 in an American Legion baseball game at Castle High School on Thursday.

Jared Nutt was on the mound for homestanding Newburgh Kapperman. Nutt pitched six innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out four.

Tommy Clark started the game on the mound for visiting Owensboro. Clark allowed 10 hits and six runs over three and a third innings, striking out three and walking zero. 

Newburgh Kapperman outhit Owensboro 14-10. Jack Fuerstenau, Andrew Dehner and Mikeal Phillips each collected multiple hits for the winning team. Fuerstenau and Dehner delivered three hits apiece to lead Newburgh Kapperman in the triumph.

Clark and Tucker Hagan each delivered multiple hits for the Bombers in the setback. Clark went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Owensboro in the hits column.
