Apollo High School EaglesOWENSBORO, Ky. (1/11/20) — Excelling late, Ryan Asher finished with 16 points to lead host Apollo over rival Daviess County 54-52 in overtime in a 9th District boys' basketball game on Friday night.

With the win, Apollo improved to 2-13 overall and 1-2 in the 9th District.

Daviess County dropped to 5-10 overall and 0-3 in the district with the loss.

The Panthers packed a lead out of each of the first three quarters but faltered late in regulation. Apollo used a 15-9 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to force the extra period.

The Eagles outscored the Panthers 7-5 in overtime to claim the victory. 

Adam Fitzgerald added 11 points for Apollo while Dan St. Claire contributed 10 points.

Ryan Thomson led Daviess County with a game-high 21 points. Accompanying Thomson in double figures in scoring for the Panthers, Cameron Johnson netted 10 points while Bo Stratton posted 10 points.
