Hoppers logoHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (6/8/19) — Hoptown posted its third straight win on Friday, beating visiting Owensboro 8-5 in an Ohio Valley League game at Hopkinsville High School.

With the win, Hoptown improved to 4-3.

Owensboro dropped to 5-2 with the loss.

Wyatt Stevenson claimed the pitching win for the Hoppers. Stevenson pitched two and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two and walking zero.

Both Jacob Lents and Brennan Crooms entered the game from the bullpen and helped to close out the matchup in relief roles for the Hoppers. Crooms recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Blaine Gillim took the pitching loss for the RiverDawgs. Gillim allowed zero hits and three runs.

Clay Simpson started the game on the mound for the Hoppers. Simpson allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two.

Brenden Bube started the game on the mound for the RiverDawgs. Bube surrendered three runs on five hits over four innings, striking out two.

Hoptown outhit Owensboro 9-6. Hunter Evans homered for the Hoppers. Micah Genter and Drew McGowan paced Hoptown at the plate, providing two hits apiece.

Bailey Falkenstein drove in three of Owensboro's five runs in the setback.
