Hoppers logoHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (7/13/19) — Winning on its home field, determined Hoptown managed to edge Paducah 8-7 in an Ohio Valley League game at Hopkinsville High School on Friday. 

Ben Huber earned the pitching win for the Hoppers. Huber pitched three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three and walking one. Brennan Crooms threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen for the Hoppers. Crooms recorded the last six outs to pick up the save.

Pete Hansen suffered the pitching loss for the Chiefs. Hansen pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out two.

Drew McGowan and Charlie Fischer paced Hoptown at the plate, recording three hits apiece. Fischer homered for Hoptown in the seventh inning.

Hoptown overcame three errors to claim the victory. 

Drew Hudson and John Michael Russ each recorded multiple hits for the Chiefs. Hudson went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Paducah offensively.

Paducah committed two errors in the setback.
