uk logo3 300LEXINGTON, Ky. (11/30/19) — Host Kentucky rushed for a school-record 517 yards on its way to defeating rival Louisville 45-13 in the annual Governor's Cup game at Kroger Field on Saturday.

With the win, Kentucky improved to 7-5.

Louisville dropped to 7-5 with the loss.

Lynn Bowden led Kentucky to the victory, rushing for 284 yards and four touchdowns.

The Wildcats led 17-13 at halftime.

Kentucky shattered its previous single-game rushing record of 462 yards set against UT Martin one week earlier.

Bowden earned the Howard Schnellenberger Trophy, which is given to the game's most outstanding player.

Chris Rodriguez added a 64-yard scoring run for the Wildcats in the fourth quarter. AJ Rose contributed a 4-yard TD run in the first quarter as Kentucky claimed its third consecutive win in the Governor's Cup.

Javian Hawkins paced Louisville, rushing 22 times for 142 yards and one touchdown. Micale Cunningham completed a 33-yard scoring pass to Tutu Atwell for the Cardinals' other touchdown.

Both Kentucky and Louisville are bowl eligible.
