fatal collision 1 300GUTHRIE, Ky. (10/11/18) — A 69-year-old man was killed when the tractor he was driving was struck by a passing vehicle and he crashed into a ditch.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 was summoned at approximately 6:50 p.m. Wednesday to Old Railroad Lane about 6 miles north of Guthrie to the scene of a two-vehicle collision. KSP’s preliminary investigation revealed that Aden Coblentz, 69 of Guthrie was driving a Ford farm tractor headed south on Old Railroad Lane while Maurice Smith, 37 of Allensville was driving a 2006 Buick Rendezvous headed north.

KSP said as Smith passed the tractor, his vehicle’s front left side struck the left side outer dual tire of the tractor, which left the northbound shoulder and entered a ditch line. As the tractor crossed the ditch, Coblentz was ejected from the tractor.

Todd County Coroner’s Office pronounced Coblentz dead at the scene. Guthrie Fire Rescue and Todd County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.

KSP Public Affairs Officer Rob Austin is warning motorists to be aware of harvesting season and farmers on the roadway. Motorists should be aware of their surroundings and realize the likelihood of encountering farm equipment during this season, he said.
