(2/6/19)  — Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corp. plans its first Healthcare Innovation Competition in the region, sponsored by Baptist Health Madisonville, with $5,000 in prizes, mentoring and collaboration from world-class healthcare systems to be awarded to the winning team.

The contest will be held 10 a.m. July 24 in Trover Tower's 8th floor. Organizers said it is an opportunity for medical professionals and non-medical innovators to engage patients and clinicians by showcasing inventive healthcare ideas. It is open to all individuals 18 and older, with a maximum of four people per team.

“Baptist Health Madisonville is excited to partner with the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corp. as the corporate sponsor of the 2019 Healthcare Innovation Competition,” said Baptist Health Madisonville President Rob Ramey. “Many people in our area have developed concepts through their personal and family experiences. We hope to promote these entrepreneurial ideas as we elevate and empower promising initiatives in the healthcare system. The ideas and innovations that result may be used to improve experiences in the healthcare industry for patients and caregivers.”

“We are thrilled to lead western Kentucky in one of the very first competitions of this kind,” said Ruthann Padgett, MHCEDC vice president. “We’re really looking forward to the ideas that will be generated in our region for the 2019 Healthcare Innovation Competition.”

Those interested in participating in the Healthcare Innovation Competition are encouraged to register with intent as early as possible by submitting an application at www.kentuckyinnovationstation.com. Deadline for registration is March 12.

Located in the Innovation Station at 38 W. Arch St., Madisonville, MHCEDC is a nonprofit organization that works to recruit new commercial enterprises to the area, while strengthening the community’s existing businesses and supporting current and future entrepreneurs.
