StangelMORGANFIELD, Ky. (2/16/19) — Kentucky State Police Post 16 reported troopers located an inmate who walked away from Union County Jail work release Thursday morning.

Post 16 indicated Jason Stangel, 40 of Uniontown, was located this morning and taken into custody.

MORGANFIELD, Ky. (2/15/19) — Kentucky State Police is looking for an inmate who walked away from Union County Jail work release in Morganfiled Thursday morning.

Post 16 Spokesman Trooper Corey King reported preliminary investigation reveals 40 year-old Jason Stangel of Uniontown was in the Union County Detention Center for non-violent charges, but was granted work release and was with a work crew in the Whispering Meadows area. Stangel walked away around 9-9:30 a.m. and has not been seen since.

KSP has issued a warrant for Stangel on the charge of second-degree escape. Troopers are searching for him in the Union County area. Stangel is described as a white male at 6-feet-1, 220 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange hoodie and tan pants.

Anyone with information on Stangel's whereabouts is asked to contact KSP Post 16 at (270) 826-3312 or a local law enforcement agency.
