bill adcockKENTUCKY (6/19/19) — Sunday, June 16, was Father’s Day, the day to honor our dear ole daddy. Isn’t it ironic that the day after Father's Day of honoring our earthly father, the Madisonville City Council was faced with honoring or dishonoring our Heavenly Father? Pay close notice to verse 8 in His Holy Scripture in Exodus 20:7-9 (RSV):

7 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless thaT takes his name in vain. 8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work:”

Ironic, eh?

My thanks go to council members Tony Space, Bobby Johnson and Larry Noffsinger for their "no" vote to "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." Jesus cleaned out the temple of the "money " hungry. The secular community wants Christians to be vocal only inside the church's four walls.  But I say, the secularists are ignorant that the Bible is more valid and reliable than the classical literature/manuscripts of Plato and Aristotle.

Plato was written in 427-347 B.C yet the earliest COPY found was in 900 A.D.That's 1,200 years after it was written and there are only seven copies. Take Aristotle. It was written in 384-322 B.C. and the earliest COPY of any one work was 1100 A.D. That's 1,400 years later and there are only five copies.

Yet for the Christian, there are about 5,000 Greek manuscripts that contain all or nearly all of the New Testament. And there are about 8,000 copies of the Latin Vulgate versions. It is believed there about 14,000 copies of portions of the New Testament. And those writers of what we call the New Testament, wrote their manuscripts only about 30 years after what they saw; they were an eye witness to Christ's death and that He did indeed rise from the dead. Quite a difference from the classical literature.

So, the fact three city council members voted "no" to not sell liquor on Sunday means they are in good company with the citizens of Madisonville and Hopkins County who believe the Bible is reliable and more valid than classical literature.

Thank you Mr. Space, Johnson and Noffsinger. Your vote is one that demands a decision..

My verdict is ya'll "Done Good" fellas.
