POLICE line generalUPDATE: ELKTON, Ky. (10/4/19) — Kentucky State Police Post 2 has released the names of individuals involved in an officer-involved shooting in Elkton.

The operator of the pickup truck was identified as Roy Tucker, 75 of Elkton, Post 2 reported. The police officers involved in the shooting were Elkton Police Chief Robert Toombs and Todd County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David Hutcheson.

Trooper Rob Austin, Post 2 Spokesman, said No further information is available for release at this time.

ELKTON, Ky. (10/1/19) — Kentucky State Police Post 2 troopers are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this evening in Todd County. No officers were reported injured.

An unidentified driver in a pickup truck was shot after police say he pulled a gun on the officers during a 4:24 p.m. traffic stop along East Main Street in Elkton. Gunfire was exchanged that resulted in the driver’s death.

Preliminary investigation reveals an Elkton Police Department officer and Todd County Sheriff’s Deputy were involved. KSP indicated an Elkton officer encountered the man earlier during the day.

Todd County Coroner’s Office pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. KSP Lt. Derek Smith is investigating.
