Vehicle Pursuit 01 300HARTFORD, Ky. (10/14/19) — An Owensboro man faces an attempted murder charge following a pursuit that all began in Warren County today.

Kentucky State Police reports Warren County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to make a traffic stop 4 p.m. today on a 2017 Dodge Ram truck along I-165 northbound near mile-marker 8.

Levi D. Lyons, 30 of Owensboro, fled from deputies at a high rate of speed, according to KSP. Warren County deputies terminated pursuit as Lyons entered Butler County.

A Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Officer spotted the vehicle at mile-marker 27 along I-165, where the pursuit was on again, KSP indicated.

Lyons went over the Ohio County line, where a tire deflation device flattened two of the truck’s tires, KSP reported.

“Lyons then used his vehicle to strike two marked KSP cruisers that were pursuing him,” KSP wrote. A trooper engaged a pit maneuver with his cruiser that caused Lyon’s vehicle to spin sideways. It came to a stop near mile-marker 55.

Lyons was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, second-degree assault of a police officer, aggravated DUI, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree criminal mischief, driving on a DUI-suspended license, open alcohol container in vehicle and first-degree fleeing police.

Lyons was taken to Ohio County Jail, where he was listed as being held this evening, pending bond. A photo of the suspect was not yet available this evening.
