POLICE line generalDEXTER, Ky. (11/7/19) — Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team has continued its investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday.

Preliminary autopsy reports show that John D. Hale died as a result of gunshot wounds after an altercation with law enforcement.

Murray Police Department Officer Justin Swope fired his weapon during the altercation, striking Hale, KSP reported. Swope was assisting the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office after reports of a suspicious person on Radio Road.

The male who suffered fatal injuries from police gunfire has been identified as John D. Hale, 42 of Almo. KSP reports no other details are available regarding the incident along with the names of the officers involved as troopers continue to investigate.

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (11/2/19)  — A Calloway County sheriff’s deputy and Murray Police Department officer responded to Radio Road in the Dexter community regarding a suspicious person, Kentucky State Police Post 1 reported this evening.

Following an altercation with law enforcement, a man was fatally shot, according to KSP. Neither officer was injured during the altercation. An autopsy is scheduled Sunday in Madisonville.

The name of the deceased and the officers involved are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation, KSP wrote.
