Karen 2HOPKINSVILLE, KY., — Karen Mayes, 65, of Merriwood Parkway passed away at 7:26am Saturday, October 5, 2018 at Covington’s Convalescent Center. A native of Christian County she was born on October 19, 1952 the daughter of the late William A. Mayes. Karen was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She participated in Camp MARC for the mentally and physically handicapped and attended the camp for 52 straight years.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Steven Mayes on July 30, 2018.

Survivors include her mother Juanita A. Mayes of Hopkinsville, sister-n-law Becky Mayes of Hopkinsville, nephew Chris Mayes of Lancaster, niece Angie Leek of Hopkinsville, and her aunt Wilda Mathis of Hopkinsville, KY. 

Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Sandefur officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4pm until 7pm Monday at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may take the form of donations to Edgewood Baptist Church, 2300 Cadiz Road, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
