AmbulanceHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (12/24/17) — Kentucky State Police Post 2 is investigating a two-vehicle collision with injuries that involved an on-duty Christian County Sheriff’s Office deputy late Saturday night.

Preliminary investigation revealed Robert Lewis Jr., 35 of Clarksville, Tennessee was driving a 2015 Chevy Impala south along the Pennyrile Parkway 9-mile marker, when Deputy David King, 43 of Hopkinsville, was stationary on the southbound shoulder of the parkway just before midnight.

KSP reported King was looking for a reckless driver stemming from a complaint. The vehicle Lewis was driving left the travel portion of the road and struck the rear of the deputy’s vehicle. King was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Lewis was transported to Jennie Stuart and later transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, KSP reported. Lewis was identified as the reckless driver. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Trooper Hunter Carroll investigated. Hopkinsville Police, Fire and EMS departments along with Christian County Rescue and CCSO assisted.
