scholarship purple 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (3/1/18) — While most are contending with the remainders of winter, thoughts of fall enrollment and welcoming new students is at the forefront of minds across the campus of Hopkinsville Community College, HCC officials announced.

Parents of seniors are having visions of tuition bills and working adults may be considering a change in occupation and wondering how to afford education. According to HCC Chief Institutional Advancement Officer Yvette Eastham, it’s time for all to apply for academic scholarships, with applications due March 15.

“Because of the generosity of donors to the college and to the college’s foundation, students with a variety of interests may apply for our portfolio of scholarships,” Eastham said in a statement.

A glance at the college’s scholarship application reveals opportunities for single parents, those interested agriculture and economics, GED graduates, high school valedictorians and salutatorians, students specifically from Trigg County, those who would like to attend class at the college’s Fort Campbell campus and more.

“Don’t assume that you don’t qualify for a scholarship at HCC. Go online, download the application, complete it and return it to the college,” Eastham said. “Like the old saying goes, ‘you can’t win if you don’t enter,’ and we want to support as many students as possible.”

This academic year, the college provided more than $98,000 in academic scholarships to HCC students while the HCC Foundation designated over $138,000 for scholarships. The HCC Foundation scholarships include the Hopkinsville and Cadiz Rotary Scholarship Programs. Claire Bolinger is the chair of HCC’s scholarship committee, and questions about the application process can be directed to her at (270) 707-3808.

“There are other scholarship opportunities too, including support from the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, the Kentucky Colonels, two textbook scholarship funds, the Indian Physicians Association for Community Service and more. We will work to find resources for anyone who is interested in attending Hopkinsville Community College,” Eastham said.

The scholarship application can be accessed at http://bit.ly/HCCscholarship. Deadline for scholarship submission is March 15.
