interstate sign blank 2017CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (7/28/19) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to have a mobile caravan working along Interstate-24 in Christian County starting Monday, state highway officials reported.

The contractor will be installing reflective pavement markers along I-24, between the Pennyrile Parkway Exit 84 interchange and the Kentucky-Tennessee State line, KYTC Spokesman Keith Todd reported. The mobile operation will include a number of support vehicles with arrow boards to direct traffic around the marker installation crew as they go about their work.

To reduce the likelihood of traffic backups, the crew will limit their work hours to between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day, Todd said. The contractor plans to start working along the eastbound lanes near the Pennyrile Parkway interchange, and moving eastward toward the state line at the 92-mile marker. The crew will then reverse direction to work along the westbound lanes back to the Pennyrile near the 84-mile marker.

Weather permitting, the reflective marker installation work is expected to take about five days to complete, Todd indicated. Motorists should slow down and use appropriate caution when they encounter this mobile work caravan.
